a. What is PLDT TalkPad?
PLDT TalkPad is a voice-calling service that runs through the Internet*. It offers best value overseas calls to the Philippines with its near-landline quality of calls at amazingly low rates. Text and chat features are also available on PLDT TalkPad.

* Works best with broadband Internet like PLDT myDSL. PLDT TalkPad can also be used with dial-up connection like Vibe. Voice quality is dependent on the speed of the Internet connection.

b. How does it work?
Using a broadband connection, log on to www.pldttalkpad.com. Register, download the PLDT TalkPad application and get a personal PLDT TalkPad number (0812-xxx-yyyy).

c. How much does it cost?
Choose from our fully consumable credit purchases of P 208* (US$5), P415* (US$10) or P830* (US$20) and enjoy the very low per minute call and text rates. Credits are consumable within 30 days. Purchase more credits as you please, or once credits are consumed or expired. Users must keep topping up their credits to maintain their PLDT TalkPad number.

d. How much will it cost for non-PLDT TalkPad users to call (or text) PLDT TalkPad subscribers?
PLDT landline and SMART mobile subscribers in the Philippines will only be charged Philippine domestic (or local) rates for calling or texting PLDT TalkPad subscribers anywhere in the world.

Those who will use international landline or mobile phones for calling or texting PLDT TalkPad subscribers will be charged with corresponding international VoIP call or SMS rates.

PLDT TalkPad users will not be charged for any incoming call and text.

e. Will the PC ring for every incoming call or text?
Yes. Just like a regular landline or mobile phone, a ring or message alert tone will be heard as a signal for any incoming call or text message.

f. Can PLDT TalkPad be used for video calls?
Our current focus is to make the best voice application. But we promise to add lots of new and exciting features in the future, and video calling is a priority on the list.

g. Will PLDT TalkPad work without a microphone and/or headset?
Yes. PLDT TalkPad will work without a headset as long as the computer or laptop has a built-in speaker and microphone. Note that voice quality may be affected by the quality of equipment used. The service may be used for texting and instant messaging/ chatting regardless of the equipment used.

h. What kind of headset should be used?
A computer headset, and not a telephone headset, should be used for PLDT TalkPad. A computer headset has two separate connectors: one for the microphone and one for the speaker (some newer headsets connect via USB, these are typically a bit more expensive but in general quite good). Make sure that the headset has a microphone. A handset can also be used in place of the headset, provided that it has two connectors that can be plugged into the computer. These are readily available in most computer or record shops.

i. What are the requirements for using PLDT TalkPad?
Users should have a PC with Windows 2000 and above Operating System with sound capability, a microphone (built-in or external) and speakers/ headset. A minimum of 10mb hard drive space, 64kbps Internet connection and 256 RAM are also required.
